Reflection

AAAAAAnd here we are at the last post. The overall reflections of the 12 week process. Sad face.

Biggest learning point:
It was great having a partner that I just meshed really well with, I was able to bounce ideas off her for feedback constantly whereas normally I'm really shy with sharing my ideas in case people think they suck. We were able to come up with a much stronger idea because of this so I hope next year I have someone I'm comfortable doing this with in all my classes (or become confident enough to do it with anyone... I may get there some time in the future).

Aspect most happiest with:
I was really happy when we got our big idea locked down. Everything after that seemed to be a breeze, we knew exactly what we were doing and what steps we had to do to finish. I really liked our visual style in the end, making something for kids as well as adults is sort of hard to get your head around but I think we did it. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea but Dave, Felicity and the kids sure like it!

Do differently:
Probably would've liked to have locked the big idea down earlier, spent more time on that to get it sorted and then have been able to develop our touchpoints more to get an even better stronger solution.

Class 12.2

PRESENTATIONSSSSS

Well that went wellish! It could've gone much better but neither Hayley or I are that great at public speaking so I didn't really seeing it going any better if we did anything differently. Also Hayley makes a great cupcake!

Class 12.1

15th October
24 hours left...
Ideate

Less than 24 hours left to go before presentations and hand in eeeeeek! We got so much work done today like we did our entire presentation and our entire dossier design all done. Pretty happy about how it's falling together. We just have the animation to do which I'm still unsure about right now, we'll see how it finishes. At least we don't need to do a rationale now yay

Slightly nervous for tomorrows presentation but I feel like even if we don't have the video it'll still go pretty well, just got to learn my lines!

Class 11.2

9th October
Feeling onto it!
Define | Ideate | Prototype

WE DID IT WE GOT OUR POV STATEMENT AND BIG IDEA LOCKED DOWN SO MUCH WE GOT A HIGH FIVE FROM TIM WOO! Such a relief, total load off our shoulders now.

I feel like everything else is going to just flow really smoothly and we're going to be so prepared for hand in this time next week. Hayley and I were so productive today; we got all the illustrations sorted and illustrated for the video, developed the video more, organised our presentation and dossier content and began writing and designing them both too and that's just the major stuff. Feeling so good about this project at the moment, probably almost the best I've ever felt at this stage in a project (cue crying at other classes right now).

8th October
Moving Forward
Define | Ideate | Prototype

So from last week we've moved on with our idea, more specifically the before side of things. Over the weekend we mocked up some posters and a coffee cup sleeve for feedback today. Things were good the only thing we're struggling on is the point of view statement and the big idea, the tricky to nail parts! We're onto about version four of our big idea and apparently it's almost there so I think in tomorrows class we can really get it nailed.

We also began brainstorming our presentation and have decided to do a mini animation that I personally am pretty excited about. Pretty much it can either go really bad or really good so lets keep our fingers crossed for the latter!

Class 10.2

2nd October
1 on 1s with Hayley
Ideate | Test | Prototype

Unfortunately I was sick today and unable to make it to class. I was able to converse with my partner through handy Facebook Messaging and send further ideas and concepts for feedback. She let me know as soon as we'd had our tutor feedback from Tim, that we could incorporate set assigned jobs for food prep etc and more collateral. We've already discussed similar ideas to this so we're already on the same page and I was able to continue working while at home and relax my sick brain writing out pages and pages of inked text. Hayley and I are doing fab at being on the same level, personally one of the best group projects I've done that wasn't with a flatmate woo!

Class 10.1

1st October
Interim
Prototype | Test

We started off presenting to a team from our class and two teams from the another class. It was great to have old eyes (our class team, ourselves) and new eyes (the other class teams) see our project and presentation. We were able to see what parts we had missed out of our presentation that was needed, for example when questions were asked and we thought we'd covered that we knew for the next presentation to the other classes we'd need to include that. They loved our idea and didn't really have a huge amount of feedback for us really so we were relying on the anonymous feedback from the other classes to help us move forward.

Unfortunately when we returned we found that one person had sat down and wrote an entire 5 paragraph essay for us. Apart from their personal opinion about our name pretty much every single point they made we'd already considered and fixed/done so it was useless. Tim said this was great and just showed that our idea was to their standard but personally I just felt that while writing all of that in full sentences they may have stopped other people giving us feedback that may have helped.

Literally an essay...
Anyways we got a fair bit from looking at the other classes work though. I know from talking to some people in other classes that they haven't actually been taught about writing/getting across their big idea so that let a lot of them down in their presentations. But a lot of them have a whole range of touch points (some had 11??), we just didn't know what they were for. I feel a lot better about our idea and the point we're at from seeing everyone else's work. We're at a good point for week 10 and hopefully if we get some good tutor feedback tomorrow we can move our idea to the next level!
