Class 8.2

18th September
Journey Mapping
Ideate | Define | Empathy

Journey mapping was simple for those with a student target audience however Hayley and I had to get into the minds of a 40 year old parent so it was a little harder. We managed it however and got a pretty decent journey map going on. We did have one major issue though; how do we get parents to realise they have a 'problem' and should use our app/book?

From here though Phoebe helped us out and made us realise that we were being really negative about the situation. We had made the leap from focusing on the stressed out worker at work and focused on his home life which was a more positive way however we were still making it seem like they had a problem that needed to be fixed, making them seem like a bad parent. The way we should've gone about it was looking at it in a positive way, eg. yes you're a good parent but what if you did more!

Once we figured this out it was so much easier to think about our project. We also have to think about the 'after', when our app is no longer needed and the family is better at supporting each other and communicating what then? How does our project work then?
